HPCL INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE

HPCL interview review :-

25 july,2016
Scope Kumar ,Laxmi Nagar,Delhi
Reporting time 8:30am

I reached there at 8 am. Whole Process started with a ppt around 8:45am. It was a very short ppt regarding job profile and salary breakup. Then document verification process started (carry percentage conversion formula and GATE score card also, marksheets of all semesters is also required apart from consolidated mksheet)
After document verification we were divided into three groups of 5,6 &8 and sent for group task. Only 18 were present out of around 30 candidates.
There were two interview panels consists of 8 members (they took our group task also).
In group task they provide 5 mins to read the passage of group task problem and then we were provided 30 mins to discuss and come to a conclusion.
Topic :-
An aeroplane crash has happened in sahara desert and we just passed last sign of civilization 15 mins back....our captain and crew members are dead ....we six passengers survive the crash along with co captain and one crew member.
We have to prioritize these items in order to survive ourselves.....
1.75 litres of Water
2. 50kg of oxygen
3. Match box
4.razor blade
5.50 packets of peanuts
6.aeroplane blankets
7.aeroplane pillow
8.nylon rope
9.sewing kit
10.first aid box
11. 20cans of soda
12. Soda opener
13. Cosmetic mirror
After group task they announced results.....6/6...5/5(interview panel 1)all selected...6/8 (interview panel2) were selected.
We went for interview in the same panel who took our group task.
Most of the interviews were totally HR.....not even a single technical question....some question from your training
Prepare HR hard ...why HPCL ....why a non tech job....
Selected candidates from all groups were 5/6...4/5 (interview panel 1)& 3/6(interview panel 2).
Interesting point is that our interview and group task were done without our stream basis(same panel for all stream students).
All d best....
Last but not d least I got selected for medical.
I have medical tomorrow.
Final selection will be done on the basis of all India merit list later.

Thank you Madhvendra Pratap.

NTPC INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE 2016

NTPC selection process experience. (The last PSU interview for me)
Branch: ECE
Place : NTPC PMI , Noida
Reporting time : 8.00 am

Initially, there was breakfast. After breakfast, document verification plus you needed to fill a form mentioning your particulars started.
After filling the form, they matched the documents with particulars you filled in the form. Document verification was fast and simultaneously, GD was being conducted.
GD: Before starting GD they asked everyone in the group to give their brief introduction.
G D topic: Coaching institutes are good or bad for teen-ager 's intelligence?
12 minutes were given to discuss on the topic
My interview questions:
They asked about my family background. Next they asked what have you studied. I replied: GATE topics.
Then one person asked me some simple questions on signal system like he gave a signal and asked if it is linear or not. Asked to plot sin(t^2) and how is graph is different from sint. Then he switched to transformer where he asked how does it work and on which principle. Then he gave a ckt of transformer with primary connected to sinusoidal AC and he asked to draw flux lines in transformer and current direction in secondary.
Other person in the panel started his questions on my work ex. He started with basic questions, then ultimately went into details after which i have to say sorry sir, I don't know.
Other person said that your interview is over.
Then I went out of the interview room with mixed feelings about the interview.
Interview duration : 30 mins.
Hope this helps for future aspirants.
Thank you Saurav.

NPTEL LECTURES - GATE ECE

How to prepare from NPTEL lectures for GATE Electronics and Communication
NPTEL is a MHRD Initiative. The NPTEL site contains video lectures from faculty at IIT’s and IISc. The aim of this project was to improve the quality of Engineering and Science Education in the country. NPTEL lectures are a valuable source for students. These lectures are also helpful for students preparing for GATE. Most of the subjects of GATE Exam are covered in these lectures. In this article we will list the lectures to be followed for each subject. However students should keep in mind that viewing these lectures will take a lot of time and they might not be able to watch all lectures in a short time. Students can watch particular subject in which they feel they are weak and gain confidence from these lectures. The transcripts of these lectures for some subjects are available in pdf format and one can read them also while preparing. Now we begin to list the subjects and their corresponding NPTEL lectures which are to be followed.

1) Digital Circuits/Logic Design

The video lectures which will be useful for this subject are Digital Circuits and Systems by Prof. S Srinivasan, faculty(retd.) at IIT Madras. There are 40 lectures in total. These lectures almost cover the complete syllabus of Digital circuits for Gate exam.  However, Microprocessor syllabus is not covered in these lectures.
