I have collected the marks, gate scores and all india ranks of many GATE 2016 electronics and communication students which covers various a wide range of AIRs.I believe that this will be very useful for future gate aspirants on setting a target mark to achieve and also to predict their AIRs in GATE 2017 based on their performance then.
Regarding the Normalisation procedure,
Session 1 (Jan 30 MORNING) : Was allotted with 8 marks due to errors in the GATE ECE paper to all.The normalisation saw an overall increase in the average marks which lead to a negative normalisation of 2-4 marks.
Session 3 (Jan 31 MORNING): It was regarded as the most difficult GATE paper in ECE over past 10 years.Normalisation saw an increase in marks by 9-11 marks.
Session4 (Jan 31 AFTERNOON): The difficulty level was in par with session 1 and normalization did not have much effect on the marks.
Rank Prediction(ECE)
AIR < 30 Marks above 71
AIR < 100 Marks above 66
AIR < 200 Marks above 62
AIR < 500 Marks above 56
